Appearence: As girl's go, Melva is not the most beautiful. Far from it. The only thing that could set her apart, is her hair; a longer, curly version of her dad's families white-golden locks. Thick, and therefor a bugger to keep in constant care; she has nonetheless left it grow long, so now is ends just about at the bottom of her considerably lacking chest area. Often, in the morning...it is immensely tangled...and she's been known to get friends and dormmates help her tear through it.
A thin face, with a slightly squared chin and plumpness that only seem to reach the cheeks area, gives her a sort of pretty, but definately not model stunning look. There is the fiantest remains of freckles across her cheeks and nose, but they have been fading fast over the past two years. A medium-tanned skin, that goes absolutely white in the winter, without much sun, and almost burnt orange in the constant sun of the summer, atones for a slightly spottier look than most girls her age like; but Melva takes it all in stride. She has dull, greenish-grey eyes; that are bright and lively with some sort of excitement wether it is Christmas, or the most borning day of her life.
A figure that anyone who wants to be regular could be proud of, Melva stands at an unassuming 5"4, and weighs in at a comfortably solid 145lbs. She hides most of her body behind baggier clothes; not skin-tight jeans for this girl. She's not all that much of a fan of makeup, either- preferring the 'au natural' look. As she does not use it that much, when she does....unless she has help, she comes off looking more like a startled hooker.
Personality: Melva is a tinkerer at heart. Although, with her family, she could not quite be considered as much as a muggle entuisast as, say, her dad's side of the family- but their is a definate interest in the world that does not even know magic exists. Mostly, she likes to do interesting, electrical things; playing with taking out the light switches in her room; and causing a few outages and trips from the fire department in the prossess. But she knows her was around a lighting appliance by now as good as any self-respecting electrician.
This love of light is probably because of her love for the stage; as a child, Melva had wanted to be an actress. Her mother even took her to auditions in London for trivial things like Cat food Commercials and such. There was only one problem; Melva is a netoriously bad actress...and a bad lier, at that. She can't sing, she can barely dance...at it seemed her spot in front of the cameras will never come. She tries though, and many a poor doormate has caught her singing tunelessly as she gets ready in the morning, or for bed, or when she's extrememly happy about something. She tried her darndest, when the professional circuit didn't work out, to work in amature theater- but the only place that would pick her up, was the backstage department. She started on the technical aspects- and so far, that's where Melva had found her gift. Over the summer, she directs as Assistant Stage Manager for a small London Theatrical Company, Waiting for the day that she will be the Actual Stage Manager, and in charge of everything.
In a general way, Melva can be considered a bit of a leader...just a quieter, less commading one. She has never been a loud girl, or a finicy one. She is underspoken, with a soft voice, and a cheery smile; that some say is another knock against her in the acting department; she doesn't go above and beyond to push herself into the spotlight. But when she asks something of other people, smiling at them, and putting it in a way that's more asking of a favor than a command...people who like Melva tend to listen up; less they feel particularly priggish.
And yet, though a softspoken, generally sweetie of a girl, Melva does not back down easily. Nope, she's a persistant little mouse...wriggling to get what she wants no matter how many times she's scared away. It's hard to intimidate her...or ruffle her. Melva does not like being ruffled, and does her best on her part to keep herself in a blissfully calm and happy attitude. Melva's a optimist- to her, the glass always has the possibility of being half full. And depending on how the people around her feel, this can either be endearing, or completely and disgustingly annoying.
History: Melva has had a rather unaspiring life, as it is. Her parents met through Terrance's family; Abigail having made friends in school with his sister, Audrey. They were married, and had two children; Dennis and Hattie. After the two were born, they had planned on having no more children...but a few more years, Abigail was pregnant once more. It was Abigail's wish not to stop work, that caused their last daughter, Melva, to be born out of England; giving her Dual citizenship.
Growing up, she had a brief stint in Acting, as a poster child for some sort of cracker [those who see Melva's old ad can easily point out that she looks on the verge of tears....not exactly a measured actress]. But that has never stopped her. There was a worry for a while that Melva would be a 'dud' like her father, as her Grandmother put it. But that didn't exactly bother Melva. She eventually did find out she could perform magic (having dyed her mother's cat purple as punishment when it stole the head of her barbie and hid it on her) and was shipped off to Hogwarts every year ever since.
[Gah...History ideas are failing me...I shall think of something else to add if I need to...but right now...muse being evil.]
