Alexa was wandering through the Forbidden Forest. She was in her animagus form. Blending in with the dark night as a black panther. Since everyone else was a goody two-shoes, she was able to change and look around the grounds. Something she asn't able to do in a long time.
She roared loudly, and the sound echoed through the woods. She knew that the sound would not reach the castle, and so was not worried. School was not going well, but since she was never negative she looked at the best of things. Stopping for a rest under a tree, she changed again to her human form. She took a deep breath. Nature, to her was wondeful. It was always alive, and best of all since it had no emotions it could neither hurt you, unless it had thorns, nor could it judge you. Everything was peacefull.
She took out a book and a flashlight. At peace, surrounded by beautiful creatures and exotic plants. She sighed and stated to read as her pale gray eyes gleaned in the moonlight. If any thing passed and saw her they would think she was probably a third year, or near that year. She always looked younger than anyone else. This did not bother her. they actually treated her nicer since they thought she was younger, and therefore gave her privileges. She took advantage of these things.

Matt had been debating on whether or not to sneak out of the castle this night or not. He hadn't done it lately, and was feeling the urge to get out of this blasted castle. He had already grown bored of his surroundings and long for some form of excitement to be sent his way. He groaned, scratched his head, causing his black hair to become an even more of a mess, and dashed out of the castle. He had made his decision.
The darkness made Matt feel exhilirated for he always seem to thrive better in the darkness, which happened to be why he always look so pale, he always preferred staying in the shadows than to go lurking around during the day all happy and perky like all the prats around school that he could not stand. No, the nighttime put him at ease, it brought him an odd sort of happiness that not much could bring him now a days.
As he entered the forest, he felt his black sneakers start to squeak for the grass was think with dew. He shrugged, he didn't care much that his feet would be soaked, he just need to get the hell out of the castle. As he walked through the forest, he continually found every broken branch that had ever fallen from a tree and every time he stepped on one, a loud crack would echo throughout the forest. Bloody hell, could I step on more sticks right about now? It was then he heard a growl that echoed along with the cracks of the twigs, he stood still. He looked around him, and then shrugged, "Well apparently there are now huge cats in this forest, bloody hell..."
As he trudged on through the forest, he found himself in a little clearing. It was quaint little place he thought to himself, and then shook his head, a new thought replaced the last and it consisted of how boring. He sighed, not matter what he always seem to find the more boringest places on Earth. He then looked around him only to find a girl, one that he recognized as being that Longbottom girl, and smirked. He walked over to her, his classic smirk placed upon his face and a sarcastic comment ready to come out of his mouth, "It would be easier for you to read inside you know instead of using a flashlight, it doesn't look like to much fun using a flashlight, and ruining your eyes in the process."

Alexa saw a figure approach her whom she soon recognized as Matthew Abney. She let him finish speaking and then smiled. If he was going to use sarcasm, then she would join in. "Well, inside you have bloody teachers always giving you detention. My eyes are doing fine. And the flashlight is a wonderful invention." She took her flashlight in hand and continued "You just press a button and light comes out." She put a straight face and said "Also there are other students disturbing ones peace. But that can't be avoided." She gave a reflex smile and spoke once again "Hey Matt."

Matt's eyebrow raised as she dished the sarcasm right back at him. Of course her little speech was nothing compared to what he could have said in this situation. As she indicated how to use a flashlight he rolled his brilliant blue eyes, for he wasn't an idiot, he knew exactly how those things worked, he didn't need an explanation. He then took out his wand and carelessly said, "Wingardium Leviosa" shooting it towards the flashlight and bring it to him. He caught it effortlessly and said in a sickenly sweet voice, "Yes Alexa, I know how these things work, and I appreciate you not shining the light in my face like this," he then flashed her in the face with the flashlight.
He then started to laugh, at his antic and threw the flashlight back at the poor girl, for she might have a heart attack if he didn't return it. "Now Alexa, I think we understand ourselves a bit better, what are you reading?" He was trying to be nice to the girl, but it was hard for she was such an easy to target to torment.

Alexa was getting terribly annoyed. This she would never show. She was usually a very compassionate, nice person, but apparently that didn't work in this situation. She would never show her irritation, and she had a good amount of patience stored inside her. It looked like Matt might waste all of it in one night.
She didn't protest when he took her flashlight. When he shone it on her she blinked, and nothing more. She didn't flinch or look away. Instead she blink and glared strsaight at him. She caught the flashlight perfectly. Spending so much time with her younger brothers, she knew well how to play sports, muggle and wizard alike. She then closedher book with a loud thump and said "Ok note taken I won't do..." She put the light on his face for a few seconds then turned it off. "....this, again." She put it back on, it was dark outside. "What I read is nothing you need to know, or of any interest to you."

Matthew chuckled at the girl's irritation for even if she didn't show it upon her features, he could just sense in the air the irritation that she was feeling. It delighted him to no end that he had gotten to the girl, for she was only amusing him. There would be no way that a Longbottom would ever be able to irritate him, for he knew there was no malicious bone in her body which could cause her to even begin to irritate him. He noted the glare upon her face and chuckled once again, he had done his job for the night.
Then in an amused tone he said, "Yes like that, and you just did it again, so like I said before please do not shine that blasted beam of light into my eyes." He then noted her snippy tones when it regarded the book she was reading. She had just given him more ammo to torment her and he loved it. She chuckled once again, "Well then if you can't tell me, you must be reading that would be prohibited, or from the restriction section of the library that you have taken, Mis Longbotom. Oh there is no need to get snippy with my dear."

It was easy to dislike Matt. He was rude, and obviously couldn't be polite to save his life. She was trying extremely hard to be nice, or at least to remain cool. Although any could notice she was not succeeding. She was very nice, compassionate, gentil. This..boy was just rude, mean, and not nice at all. His sarcasm was really getting on Alexa's nerves. If he kept this up Alexa might just lose her composed face.
"Oh, I am so sorry." She smiled, and didn't look sorry at all, She liked it bothered him. It seemed to be the only thing that acually did. She raised her eyebrows in disbelief for a fragment of time and then regained composure. She would play along. Alexa would never break such rules as those, but she would break others. "Well, you're very clever. I would have not told yo, but since you discovered me. Then yes, I am reading something from the forbidden section." She smirked and holding her book said "Would you like to take a look?" After the words were out of her mouth, she regretted it, she didn't want this joker, doing anything with her book. It was her favorite given to her by her father. He would probably throw it on the floor or worse. Then she smiled, she wouldn't need to worry she had a plan.

Matthew just smirked at the girl that was sitting before her, he could see right through her composed face, Hell, anyone could at this point, he had seen Alexa around Hogwarts sometime though, with the same composed expression continually upon her face. No one in their right mind was always composed like that, he determined. In all reality he was just trying to get some reaction from her, not only for his delight, but just to ensure that this girl wasn't some sort of a robot. He almost laughed aloud at this thought, he had been reading to many comic books he decided. Well whatever the case he was still going to torment the girl, just to see if a reaction would appear upon her pale features, and for his own amusement. He had been wanting some form of excitement and he thought this was as good as it was going to get.
As she offered him the book, he took it gingerly from her hands. He looked over the book, it was old and tattered, and he noted definitely had no magical origins. He raised and eyebrow at this, and questioned, "Sense and Sensibility? Since when do witches read old English literature? I though all the rage was to read only magical books, and not English fiction. What a strange little witch you are Alexa, strange indeed." Matthew then handed the book over to her, for it was of no use to him. Of course Matthew knew the origins of this book, he knew a lot about all kinds of subjects, his parents would have it no other way. He just couldn't figure out the allure of this book to this girl, but then again why should he care. He stood there, hand in his pocket, his other hand twirling his wand, just waiting for a reply, and some sort of reaction.

Alexa was getting no better at maintaining her temper. She knew she was not fooling him, or at least could not fool him for much longer. She was a bit surpirsed at first he did not tease her. But of course she didn't have to be shocked by much from his last comment. It didn't annoy her for him to call her strange though. Her brothers called her this all the time, and so did many other people who lived near her. She knew this and many years ago accepted it. She was strange, but so were many other people. Her mother, Luna, always told her "Strange is only missunderstood" She liked that saying and kept it with her for such an occassion as this.
She smiled at his comment and said "Oh well first, I want to point out that Yes I am werid. Second I would like to say that this is a wonderful book, even if it is by a muggle author. Talent can be found anywhere and every where in anyone and everyone." She stopped for a while to add dramatic effect "Besides I would like to say thirdly that You should know all about strange" and looked at him with a different face than before. It was serious but in a way it showed she was mocking him and was enjoyng herself. She wasn't bothering him or being sarcastic. She really thought him werid himself. With his crude humour.

As Matthew continued twirling his wand, he was realizing that he was growing tired of this girl, and real fast. It seemed as if she had nothing better to do than just sit here and read a book, how boring, how trivial, and how very unexciting. Sure Matthew did read, he read a lot actually, but that was during the day, when he went into good student mode, or just academic mode in general. During the night, was a completely different story, he hated doing any sort of homework, or even reading during the night, for the night time was the perfect time to raise havoc around this school, and have a little fun.
This night was no different, and Matthew was readily thinking of ways to have a little fun, and he thought the Forbidden Forest was the place to go, but apparently not tonight. It looked as if he was the only other student lurking around here, besides Alexa. He let out an aggravated sigh, and shifted his weight to his left leg, and just stood there. He had nothing else better to do he thought, but it was still aggravating to him how boring Alexa was, and so reserved, so, what was the word, unemotional. Well he decided whatever got her through the day, and awaited her reply.
He smirked at her when she finally showed some sort of emotion and smiled at him. He then listened as she tried to insult him, or better yet mock him. He was quite amused by this, and was even more pleased this his remarks had somewhat ruffled her feathers. "Ah yes, she admits it, but in all reality you're just as normal as the rest of the lot. I might be strange, but that's what makes me different. I enjoy standing out of the crowd, and I embrace it." He then thought about her words about talent of the muggle author, and he hated himself for agreeing with her, "Yes, that is true that their is talent everywhere, even in the muggle world. I've read quite a lot of muggle books in my time, and yes they do have talent."

Alexa didn't know what to do anymore. Matthew just didn't know when to shut up. It wasn't that he was annoying anymore. She accepted that now. It was just that she would never be able to read her book peacefully with Mr. Talkative prying about her opinions. She enjoyed talking about books but in this case he was just insulting books. That was not a nice thing to do. Not nice at all. She smiled a triumphant smile when he finally admitted the wonders muggles do on their own without magic.
When it came to the point where he admitted he was strange. She thought his reply very wise. She then decided to speak "Which exactly proves my point about being weird. It is nice to be different." Now to just have fun she bragged about being right about muggles. It was always nice to be proven correct. "See it isn't strange to read muggle books. They are good at many things. They have many talents."
She decided she was going to make the most of the night. Since she was positive she wasn't going to be able to read, she was going to talk as much as possible. If it bothered her when people talked too much maube it would bother him. She had to try, so she added, "But reading muggle books isn't what makes me strange though." She was having fun. While she said this it didn't show on her face however. She was serious.
