Alex laid awake in her bed, as she could hear the crickets chripping outside her tower window. She had gone to bed early in order to get up in the early mists of the morning. So there she laid , in tossed covers, twirling a single piece of hair around her finger. Her mind had been wandering about things she had read, about her father, about her mother. What life was like for the both of them here. There were questions, there were answers. She sighed as she looked around to see the other girls sleeping around her. She quietly got up, moved aside her bedsheets, grabbed her cloak, put on some socks, and then headed out of the dormatories and headed outside of the Common Room.
She had wondered down the spiral staircase, knowing that the professors had been out there somewhere, but it didn't make her nervous, nor afraid of getting a bad rap. She needed a midnight snack to come her stomach down and maybe end up falling asleep. She could feel the wind blow gently through the windows as she made her way down, hoping to just get to the dungeons and into the kitchens to get something. She knew her brother was a prefect, and heading up towards Head Boy and he was roaming out somewhere. "Scorpius..always has to be the special one." Alex thought to herself. "But then again he had been always there when I was younger, when my father had not. He could always look at me, when my father could not. " Alex sighed as she made it down to the ground floor, and looked around, before heading down to the dungeons. She had seen no one, no where. She had found the protrait of the fruit bowl and began tickling the green pear. It began to laugh, and laugh and laugh. Then the portrait clicked and swung open. Alex crawled in, and closed the protrait behind her.
Alex wandered down the darken passageway as she saw a circle of light up a head. She crawled faster as she found herself into the kitchen where she was greeted by house-elves wanting to serve her. "Um..Hello?!" she spoke in her sweet calm voice. "If you want, you can get me some chicken dumpling soup." She replied as they nodded their heads at her and began making her soup. There she sat at a table, waiting for her food to be made.

Robyn was laughing quietly to herself as she finally reached the Dungeons that would lead her to the kitchens. She liked to visit once in a while not only to talk to the very interesting little House Elves, and of course. Eat some of their delicious food that they were always offering to make. But tonight she had had a sudden urge for the most Chocolaty cake she could ever dream of. Which might she add, she had. She had woken up to one of her dreams where she had been eating this amazing piece of chocolate cake. All the milk she could drink to accompany the amazing midnight treat. The moment she woke up she knew she must have some. And that was how she had most of her walks out of hours. She could be very rash when it came to things of desire. She was not really one to hold herself back much. And it was hard for others to hold her back as well, she wasn't easily kept in one place.
So knowing she could get into trouble if she was caught by anyone guarding the halls... treating them as if they were in prison or something. The trust that was given to students the moment they entered the Great Oak doors... Nil. Absolutely nothing. So with a grin on her face at the thought of even a small adventure. She could get caught by anyone at any second. Any corridor that she turned into in hopes of not getting caught. It was just the feeling that you could get caught and run if you had to. Or that you could sneak around without getting caught, that lured her deeper every night to its endless possibilites. Not for the first time had she reached the Kitchen without getting caught. All she would need was that someone had followed her the whole time. Keeping her in a false sense of security. But that wasn't it. She was sometimes prone to paranoid moments. So with her smile still in place she tickled the pear.
As the pear giggled and tried getting out of her reach, her smile widened. She walked straight through the opening that was opened for her and was met with the many objects used to make the food for them every day. She wondered if House Elves ever slept. It just seemed they were always busy. Cleaning, and Cooking for the whole castle. So when she was surrounded by the House Elves she could still see around her and noticed the youngest Malfoy sitting at a table availiable for people just like the two of them. "Alex." She greeted with a grin before looking back down and smiling at the Elves. "Can I have a very chocolaty cake and milk if you don't mind." She said her voice dripping with longing passion. She wanted that cake sooo badly. And she knew that they would have some around somewhere. Her thoughts were confirmed when an Elf spoke saying it would be sent over right away. With a nodd and a grin at the elves she walked over and sat at the same table as Alex. "Midnight snacks. I can't live without them." She spoke up trying to start a conversation with the quietest of the Malfoys.

Alex waited patiently as the house-elves were preparing her soup. Alex had a lot of thoughts racing through her mind. It wasn't the kind of things that did linger in her mind, but for some reason she had lingered on these certain thoughts. "Darn journal." She thought to herself. "If I had just left it in my father's desk, I wouldn't be thinking all this." She thought as she was screaming at herself. She wanted to grab a hold of her hair and pull. Maybe it was because she was now learning all about the woman that had left her when she was only five. The woman that was her mother. She hated how her father neglected her, she hated how Scorpius as always the popular one along with the rest of her siblings. She was the simple outcast, and no one knew she existed. It hurted her even more when her father didn't acknowledge her. He seemed to busy in his work, or flauting with other women who wanted to be his trophy wife since now he was a bachleor. She had all these thoughts and they were just cramping in her head, and she felt as if she just wanted to scream. She had her head in her hands as she tried to silence the thoughts that rang through her mind.
"Excuse me." The house-elf said as he tapped her on the arm. Alex jumped as she gazed into the house-elve's widened eyes. "Oh sorry..Thank you." She said as she recieved the bowl of soup from him and began to eat it. This is what she normally did when she felt down, or restless. Food usually calmed her. She knew she looked like her mother, a woman she barely knew. She had heard a voice behind her called out her name. She turned around and smiled. "Hey Robyn." She spoke as she continued to eat her soup. She chuckled. "Yup. Believe it or not I do this at home too." She spoke in her quiet voice.

"I believe it." Robyn answered as she laughed lightly. "This isn't the first time I find you here." She grinned across at Alex. She always found it nice to talk to her. She was intellectual, and sometimes. Believe it or not, she found herself asking Alex for advice! The girl was just smart. "But I have to admit. What you choose to have as a midnight snack. I would disagree with." She continued happily looking at Alex's food. "I myself. Go for the amazing junkfood." She said losing a couple of inches to her height as she allowed her head to rest on the cool table top. "And Chocolate cake with this." She motioned one hand over the table top. "I know will be amazing." She finished with a slight grunt as she forced herself to sit up straight. A moment later her chocolate cake arrived.
She was pleased with the generous size that was given to her. "This is what I'm talking about." She murmered to herself as she stared at the piece. Turning to look at the House Elves she beamed at them. "Thank you guys very, Very much!" Robyn thanked enthustiastically. Nodding to them as the elves claimed it was no problem whatsoever and it was a pleasure to give her a midnight snack. Turning back to Alex she forked off a bit of the chocolate cake. Her mouth was watering once more as her dream was finally placed on a plate right in front of her. "If you want some, I can give you some." She told Alex as she savored the cake delicately in her mouth. Her hand already inching towards the glass of milk that was placed right beside the cake. Chocolate cake and Milk was her absolute favourite snack to have. After putting the glass back down she looked across back at Alex. "So how have you been?" She asked the young quiet girl who was having a midnight snack as well.

Alex had to chuckle at Robyn's response. Alex was into sweets, but she wanted soup because she wanted to go to back to bed, to get up and get some work done. She sometimes hated the fact that she was a book-worm, and had to get things done all the time and never had that bad to the bone like her mother had. "Well I perfered soup because I wasn't really into sweets tonight. I guess because at home, all the sweets are usually gone cause some people; who I will not name keep taking them." She said with a sweet smile. She continued eating her delicious soup. "Sometimes I see my father taking bits of cake that we usually have stacked in the fridge. He usually mutters to himself while eating his cake." Alex said as she had a flash back of walking down the stairs and then taking a glance at her father, having a bit of a midnight snack, talking to no one. She shook her head of the thought. "You'll be finding me here a lot lately since I guess the more classes I'm taking the more I will be awake, studying." She laughed at that.
She had to laugh as she turned to see the size of chocolate cake that Robyn had recived. "Sorry..but all I can say..if Scorpius was here..he would have battled you for the cake and all I can say is that..that boy doesn't share, though he says he does." She said rolling her eyes, but laughed because even though her brother seems to have been the Malfoy kind people talk about, he did have a heart and was nice when he wanted to be. " She smiled. "Thanks..but I think I will stick to my soup..maybe for desert when I am done." She smiled and went back to her soup. "I've been doing alright. Got excited with all the new classes I am taking and still studying as ever. How about you? How have you been since I last saw you?" she asked.

"Well, I suppose that could have to do with something." Robyn spoke taking another forkfull of her glorious chocolate cake. It was devestatingly mouth watering. "Ah. Your father is an odd one." Robyn said smiling cautiously at Alex. Most people didn't like others talking about their parents what so ever. But she didn't intend for harm. Just saying her opinion. "Maybe he's telling himself he'll be saving you kids from temptation if he takes it for himself first." Robyn said with a slight chuckle as she took a quick sip of her milk. "You know what." Robyn started. "No harm intended, But you study way too much." She told Alex letting her right hand slacken with her fork. "And if there's more to study, well. Shouldn't you sleep more?" Robyn asked scrunching her nose slightly. The more she had to study, the more she slept to get the energy to study.
Grinning down at her cake as Alex brought attention to it she couldn't help but remember the midnight snacks her and Cameron would have. The two would just somehow end up waking around the same time alway in the mood for something to munch on. While Robyn ate sweets and junkfood. Cameron usually went for the juices. She remembered that one time Cameron tried something spontainious around their Fourth year. Well, not spontanious. Robyn had dared him to drink a flask of firewhisky. She remembered having to drag him all the way to his room trying to muffle his giggling all the way. "As if your brother Scorpius could ever take anything away from me." Robyn let laughter ripple from her. "And who cares if he doesn't share. All that needs is a quick hex and it'll all be good." Robyn grinned across the table at Alex. "And fine. You stick to your soup. Just remember. This cake will be here when you're finished." Robyn said smiling as she took another forkful.
"... Maybe not though." She amended looking up at Alex with laughter in her eyes. "And as for how i've been. I've been good. Up until you told me that you were excited about your many classes." Robyn spoke frowning slightly down at her cake. Looking back up with the frown still in place. She spoke once more. "I think my heart ceased to beat when you said that." Robyn joked. "That cannot be good for me." She grinned at Alex before going to gulp her milk. She would probably need a bit more milk later on. "I was kidding. I've been good. Same ole, same ole." Robyn shrugged before taking another large forkful of cake that she managed to fit into her mouth.

Alex shrugged. "I wouldn't know. My father has been pretty private lately. It's like he hides in his study most of the time and only pops out when there are balls, something to eat, when he goes to visit my mother or when he goes off to work. Other than that he is up in his study, doing whatever." Alex said, having to agree with Robyn. Her father was indeed an odd person. She could hardly remember any time where he was out and about. "Well I have caught him saying the name Nelle." Alex took another sip of her soup before she drank the broth, that warmed up her soul and quinch her thrist. "He knows I am not tempted as much as my other siblings." She confessed knowing she would be the last to be tempted. She only smiled and chuckled a bit. "No offense taken. I guess I've gotten so used to it. Being ignored from my father for so many years, I have gotten used to being engulfed by work or books." She turned to Robyn, with the same dark eyes her mother used to have. She smiled. "Well I have been reading this..this book, and for some reason I haven't gotten much sleep. So I came down here to see if soup will help." She said as she asked for some more soup.
She laughed. "Yeah I guess your right. Scorpius would let girls win but then again, your the type of girl who usually doesn't swoon over him like they haven't seen a guy before." She said as she remembered over the summer that many girls had owled Scorpius with a lot of love letters, pledging their love for him. She shook her head. It was the same kind of girls that were pledging their love to her father. She had seen most of them hanging onto him like they were going to be sweeped away. Alex shook her head at away from those thoughts. She looked back at Robyn with a smile on her face. "Well that's the problem. I am a third year. I am not allowed to use magic outside school yet." She said, knowing that it was the wizarding rule that young wizards were not allowed to perform magic during the summer holidays, and she hardly saw her brother around. Alex had to laugh. "Oh I will..it's so tasty." She said as the house-elf brought a new bowl to her with a smile. "Thank you..smells and tastes excellent." She complimented the house-elf. He smiled and bowed to her, before going back to his duties.
She laughed. She was starting to feel better. "Yeah I thought it would, but hey one of the classes is required for the career I am going for when I graduate from Hogwarts." She said. She has always loved animals, ever since she could remember. She wanted to work within the Ministry working along side of the Magical Creatures and Care Of Magical Creatures are soon going to help her out. "I know you were joking. I guess I take so many classes to challenge myself. I guess mostly because I want to make a place for myself in my family. I am not as beautiful as my sister Kyra, or as popular as my brothers. I mean Scorpius had girls wanting him to write when he was twelve. Kyra had boyfriends at the age of thirteen. Alexander is starting to get girls wanting to be with him. For me..not one guy has spoken to me. Not one. So classes are the only things I have." She spoke, wondering if her mother felt the same thing. "How was your summer Robyn?" She asked here, taking a bite out of her soup.

"Well I assume your father is a busy guy... being Minister of Magic and all." Robyn said quietly as she continued to look at Alex. She was quiet for a moment thinking to herself. "D'you think something is up with the Wizarding World?" She asked curiously. She knew Alex was smart enough to come up with her own ideas. But she knew her father better than anybody that decided to interview him. "Or he could just be... yeah. Odd." She finished frowning slightly. She remembered her Mother telling her that Nelle had died a few years ago. She watched Alex taking in her soup with an almost sad expression. Their family seemed broken. And then to have a father that kept to himself and didn't spend time with their children. It seemed as if he didn't even know his Children were there, that they possibly needed him. "Well that's because he knows you're smarter than the rest." She smiled warmly at across at Alex. Her thoughts were instantly confirmed when Alex said her father ignored her. "He shouldn't do that." She muttered quietly feeling a pang of sadness in her. Alex was too special to be ignored! "Does it bother you?" She asked, having a feeling it wouldn't be the best idea to ask what book it was. "You know..." She trailed off.
"I'm glad you have noticed that." Robyn grinned brightly at Alex. It was like the ultimate compliment. To not be categorized as Boy crazy... and by Merlin, there were enough boy crazy girls in Hogwarts. She couldn't help but think of Alex much older than her years. Much more Wise than any other Third year. She couldn't explain it, but it was as if she felt a certain pride for it. "They won't know it's you." Robyn scoffed slightly. "Just blame it on Scorpius or something." She shrugged as if she could care less about her older brother getting in trouble. "Then you could probably vouch for him that he though he was older than he really was... but then, you'd have to admit he was crazy." She smirked goodnaturedly. She smiled as a House Elf came and gave her a refill on her soup. Those elves she had to admit, were pretty smart. And not to categorize most Old pureblood families, pleased that Alex treated House elves nicely.
"Well, As long as it's necissary." Robyn said, her face showing that she was contemplating what Alex had said. "So you want to work with Magical Creatures then?" Robyn asked. "That's pretty cool. What do you most long to do as someone who deals with them?" She asked curiously, bringing herself back to what Alex was saying. She bit her lip slightly as she heard Alex. It seemed as if that family had reserves for who had the spotlight. "You'll make a name for yourself in your family." She assured Alex. "So what? What are looks and desire compared to actual intelligence." Robyn claimed sure of what she said. She stabbed a piece of cake and brought it to her mouth to chew slowly. "You will be noticed when your time comes Alex. Trust me." Robyn started honestly as she looked at the much younger girl before her. "And when it does, it won't be for anything Petty that can be taken away in an instant." She finished, her feelings all muddled unsure of whether to frown or smile. She did none. Only breathed slowly and brought another piece of cake to her mouth.
"As for my summer." She began answering Alex's question. "I pretty much just spent it with Cam." She said. "We played a bit of quidditch. He was actually a bit rough, but he only helped me on being able to stick to my broom." She shrugged, a smile instantly lighting up her face. "And do be too shocked." A grin appeared before she could hold it back. "I actually studied." She said as if she were proud of that little thing. She was never one to really put too much time into studying. She was one that believed in the philosophy that if you didn't show signs of knowing a bit about it, there was more chance of struggle and more unhappiness. "I learned a few spells I want to try out this year... If you know what I mean." Robyn smirked mischeviously.

Alexandria had thought about the many transparent posters that hung around the Ministry with her father's picture on them. Yup, her father, Draco Malfoy was Minister of Magic; what he always wanted to be. She took another bite of her soup and looked at Robyn with a curious look on her face. "What you mean?" She asked, wondering what could be happening with the Wizarding World. It had been twenty-six years of peace. What could have been powerful enough to disturb that.
Alex had read that a great dark lord; by the name of Voldemort had terrorized the Wizarding World for years, and fell from power in the early 1980's. Then rose up again when her father was in his fifth year. She remembered that her father had a tattoo on his left arm; something she couldn't make out since he kept it hidden. She thought about it until she shook her head back into reality. Alex gave Robyn a warm smile with a soft laugh. "Maybe. I guess it's because when I was five I stopped believing in Santa Claus and found out that he's just some myth that people tell kids." Alex said as she remembered she had given up in faith, or hope in things. "Well it's mostly up to him. He doesn't even know that when I graduate from here, I am getting out of England and Ireland and going to study the Magical Creatures for the Ministry." She said as she took another bite of her soup. She was going to take another bite but then shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know..sometimes I guess. Maybe it's.." She started as she moved herself to look at Robyn. "It's because I see all these kids with their fathers, and mine can hardly look at me. You know..I don't even remember the last time I hugged him, or he hugged me. It's been so long." She said as she thought about it. How her grandmother would dress her up nicely on her birthday; trying her long dark hair with a pink bow. Her father had been no where, but in his study; during the countless hours. He would give her a present, only through her grandmother did she retrieve them. She shook her head.
She lifted her head towards Robyn and chuckled. "Well that's the thing. Your wand is like how should I say; a fingerprint. The Ministry knows who preformed the spell and who's wand was the one that casted it." Alex explained, learning from it with the pages that was in her father's bookbag. It was a new secruity form now a days. To help the securty for those who wish to do harm to other wizards. "All I can say is the Ministry has gotten smarter now a days if you ask me." She confessed as she knew now there were more steps to taking security than it was back in the time her father was in school. Alex laughed. "Scorpius is a bit crazy yeah I would have to agree, but I don't blame him. Ever since our mother died, it's like he had to take rule of the house at a young age." Alex said.
Alexandria's lips curled into a sweet smile. "Yeah I do. I have a passion for animals and I want to study and get a much better view of them than how wizards depicted them in books." She confessed. "I also want to help most of them and breed the ones that are nearly going extincted." She said, knowing there were some rare creatures in the world that were going dying off. Alex couldn't help but to smile. Robyn had always been a good friend to her, even accepted her when she first came here to Hogwarts. Not many people would have been her friend or even gave her a chance because of the surname that she had carried since birth. "You know Robyn, you've always been a great friend to me. You always know how to make me smile." She said smiling at Robyn. "I guess I will; I just don't know when." She said, wondering how her mother did with the whole love thing.
Alex smiled. Robyn was indeed a really good quidditch player, and so was Cameron; Robyn's twin. That was something her and Robyn had in common. They both had twin brothers. She laughed. "Yeah I know what you mean. I can't wait to see or hear about these spells you talk about." She said as she drank the rest of the broth in the bowl and handed it to the house-elf. She stopped and was shocked. "No..did I just hear Robyn Matthews studied?" She said with a laugh lingering in her throat.

"I dunno." She confided in Alex. "It's just you say your fathers busy. And he's minister of magic. D'you think something is going on... Like last time? I dunno." She amended, taking another forkful of her cake. "Something could be happening." She shrugged, beginning to wonder about it once more. There had been peace for some time. But Peace never lasted. No matter how much one tried and worked for it. Something always became corrupt. Something or Somebody always disagreed with the way things were going. And there was always someone willing to act on their ideas. Isn't that exactly what happened when Voldemort was in reign. "I just don't think it’s possible to be this quiet for this long with nothing harboring." She shrugged. Maybe she just wanted some excitement. Or it was her not trusting wizards out there.
“I’m probably just bored with this.” She frowned feeling slightly disturbed if that was the cause for her jumping to conclusions. Shaking the thought out of her head she shot out what she though to Alex not believing in Santa Clause when she found out he was only myth when she was young. “But that’s sad.” She muttered. “We all need to believe in some childish myth.” She smiled over at Alex across her cake. “I’m sure he knows when you’re going to graduate.” She tried to comfort her. It would be completely terrible if he didn’t know that much. It was almost like forgetting one of your kids names. You just had to remember things like that. No matter how much someone tried to push it out of their minds. It was like remembering a birthday as well…though she wasn’t too great at that herself. But she wasn’t the one being evaluated right now.
“But he probably doesn’t know you’re going to be moving out of England and Ireland.” She muttered slightly. “But I’m sure he’ll notice you’re leaving. He can’t be that…” She stopped speaking. Who was she to make excuses for her father. She didn’t know the man, and perhaps what she was saying wasn’t really helping Alex at all. All she wanted to do was help any little way she could. “I’m sorry about that.” She apologized for what Alex went through. Her father never hugging her, to the point she couldn’t remember when was the last time he hugged her. She could really sympathize with that. She herself never got the chance to hug her father. And only knew what he looked like through photos and was reminded of him when she looked at her brother Cameron. She reached over the table and took Alex’s hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. “I hope that will change for you.” She said completely honest.
“Yes. I know a wand is like a fingerprint.” She chuckled lightly. “But I doubt they’d go to that far extent and test all of your wands for magic use. No way would they blame it on you. You’re the good one of all the Malfoy’s running around Hogwarts.” She smiled kindly at Alex. “And if your dad did ask… He would believe Scorpius did it over you.” She shrugged. If she was their father, she would have definitely believed Scorpius did it without even asking the others for a confirmation. “But I guess you better be cautious.” She smiled mischievously. “And it’s a da*n good thing they’ve gotten smarter.” She mumbled to herself. Looking up to look back at Alex. She had to admit what she said about Scorpius. But it was the first time she heard of him having to take some weight of the family he belonged to. She was slightly speechless.
“Well, that’s a good reason to go into that field.” She admitted thinking about it. It would be nice to know the differences of what they have been told and what they figure out on their own. “You’re messing with nature there.” She smiled in a kidding way at Alex. It was always great trying to save a species from becoming extinct. She smiled warmly at Alex when she called her a good friend. “Awe, Thanks Alex.” Robyn said with a slightly happy emotion. “I always tend to have a good sense of judgment. You were an obvious choice.” She grinned at her. “And I’d be a complete idiot not to be your friend.” She admitted. “You’re too special to not have around.” She continued speaking and smiling at Alex. “And you most definitely will have your moment.” She assured her. If she was positive about anything in life, that was that Alex was going to have a moment of her own.
“And you just pick someone out of a crowd, and I’ll gladly show you.” She grinned at Alex. “I’ve been itching to practice them… and the more I get, the better.” She had a faint smirk on her lips. She would probably try it on some of the people that didn’t like her, or the ones she didn’t like. A certain person came to mind. The one she usually always fought with every year… Abney. “And don’t sound too shocked that I studied!” She mocked feeling hurt. “You make me feel like I’m stupid or something.” She pouted slightly, but the laughter never truly leaving her eyes. “What about you?” She asked Alex. “The best thing you think you learned during the summer?” She asked curiously as she took another healthy forkful of chocolate cake.
